Requesting a Training 

The UndocuSpartan Student Resource Center (USRC) offers UndocuAlly trainings for 菠菜网lol正规平台 staff and faculty that seek to create a safe and welcoming environment for undocumented students and students from mix status families. 部门/units can request a training 通过填写 UndocuAlly培训 Request Form. 

Topics that we can cover include: 

• Immigration 政策 that Impact Undocumented Students
• Research informed practices to support and empower students 没有证件的人
• CSU Legal Support Services
• 支付大学学费/ Financial Aid for Undocumented Students
• Paid Opportunities for Undocumented Students
• Case Study Activities

Please note the following: 

• We ask that you give us AT LEAST 60 minutes to present.
• Depending on the time you allocate to us, we might not cover all the topics you request. We will consult with you ahead of time to determine the presentation's format and issues if we cannot fully meet your initial request. 
• All presentations will be d一个 via Zoom during Fall 2021. 
• Submit your request at least two weeks in advance.

If we cannot provide expertise on a specific topic, we will provide you with a referral to experts within our community.

• What can staff gain from participating in an UndocuAlly training?

  • Immediate outcomes of the training include, but are not limited to:

    • Becoming familiar with federal and state legislation

    • Identifying effective practices to advocate and support undocumented students

    • Recognizing the various experiences and challenges of undocumented students

    • Creating a network of UndocuAllies that consists of staff and faculty

    • Creating an environment that is welcoming of all students regardless of immigration 状态/背景

• What is an UndocuAlly?

  • An UndocuAlly is some一个 who:

    • Identifies as a supporter that advocates for the undocumented community;

    • Is clear about his/her own motivation in becoming an ally;

    •  Is proactive and informed in the most recent immigration laws/policies/news;

    •  Finds legal alternate ways that assist undocumented students to meet academic requisites when the students are excluded by law from regular participation in employment, federal/state aid, federal programs, paid internships, travel, or the use of identification forms that they do not have, etc.;

    •  Listens openly, yet does not interrogate the student on their immigration status;

    •  Creates a climate of trust that allows undocumented students to reveal their situation 按照他们自己的节奏;

    •  Does not disclose a student’s status without the student’s permission;

    •  Is committed to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the privacy of people 没有证件的人.
